     Vickie Wyatt, President of J.I.T. Manufacturing, began her journey as a business owner in 1992 alongside her husband, Reggie. Together the couple created J.I.T. Manufacturing in a small 2800 square foot metal fabrication facility with only four employees and just one customer. J.I.T. still has the very first customer and they are still a substantial part of today’s business, a true testament to an effective business plan and leadership.

     As a graduate of Clemson University plus 30 years of business experience, Mrs. Wyatt has always strived to continually grow and move her woman-owned business forward into new markets.           While working as an engineer in logistics and transportation at UPS, Evangelina Hemphill knew one day she wanted to own her own       business.  During a conversation with a small business owner, Hemphill discovered the shortage of certified asphalt inspectors and roadway services in the construction industry. In October of 2015, Evangelina Hemphill decided to take a leap of faith and start her own business, Hemphill Engineering Group LLC. 

            HEG is an inspection and consulting firm specializing in roadway construction inspection services. In 2015, Hemphill reached out to the U.S. Small Business Administration for counseling assistance to pursue her dream of owning a business.

Alex Lo came to America with his parents in 1979 from Vietnam to escape unrest in his home country. But Lo didn’t just build a new home in the United States, he built a successful business as well.

 “Being a minority has not been a factor in growing my business,” said Lo.

Lo found Seres LLC in 2007. Seres is a minority-owned environmental engineering and consulting firm headquartered in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. The firm provides engineering consulting, regulatory compliance and operational support to federal, state, local governments, and chemical/industrial manufacturing companies.

 In 2013, the firm was accepted into the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program.
