Calvin Orlando Davis, District Director

Calvin O. Davis

Calvin Davis is the District Director of the Lubbock-West Texas District Office of the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) and is ultimately responsible for the delivery of SBA’s programs and services throughout the 71 West Texas counties that make up the West Texas District.  Formerly, Mr. Davis served as the Chief Legal Counsel for SBA’s Lubbock and El Paso District Offices while holding the distinction as a Special Assistant United States Attorney.  Prior to his employment with the federal government, Mr. Davis served as a tax consultant and tax attorney with the firms of Arthur Andersen & Co. in Washington, D.C., and with KPMG Peat Marwick in Los Angeles, California.  Mr. Davis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Langston University in Oklahoma and a Juris Doctorate Degree from Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. 

Calvin is a dedicated public and community servant who is committed and always excited to help other succeed in positive endeavors.  For his service and volunteer efforts he has been honored with numerous awards and citations from the White House, the SBA, and from several states, cities, communities, and groups.   Some of his most recent and notable honors include being the recipient of the “Trendsetter and Trailblazer Award” issued by the Unified Juneteenth Committee of Lubbock (2015); the highly coveted, Gold Medal Award for Community Service awarded by the Women in Communication (2014); and the prestigious Community Champion of Diversity Award issued by the Texas Tech University’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement (2012).  Mr. Davis has also made an impact nationally through his former service as the SBA Representative to the Presidential Task Force on Los Angeles’ Recovery; former National Board Member of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. and former National Board Member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (N.A.A.C.P.).  Locally Mr. Davis serves as a current board member of the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (LEDA), Market Lubbock, Inc., the South Plains Association of Government (SPAG), the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport, the Center for Global Understanding, the 100 Black Men of West Texas, Inc.; the Lubbock Housing Finance Corporation, and, the Epsilon Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi.  Calvin is married to Renee Davis and they have two children, Toren and Teklyn.
