Submit Your Nomination for 2020 National Small Business Week Awards

Are you a small business owner with an amazing story to tell; or, do you know of a small business that deserves recognition? If so, submit your nomination today for the 2020 National Small Business Week Awards.

For more than 50 years, National Small Business Week has celebrated the achievements of America’s small businesses and the contributions they make to their local communities, and to the nation’s economy.

Award Categories 

The SBA Seattle District Office invites you to nominate a local small business and/or individual or organization to be considered for recognition for one of the following awards:

State Awards – Winners in these categories will move forward to compete for regional and/or national recognition on behalf of Washington state :

  • Small Business Person of the Year

District Awards – Winners in these categories will be recognized at the annual small business awards gala in Seattle:

  • Small Business Exporter of the Year
  • 8(a) Graduate of the Year
  • Rising Startup of the Year
  • Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year
  • Young Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Rural Small Business of the Year (see list of eligible counties in guidelines attachment)

Champion Award – The winner in this category advocates and supports small businesses and will be recognized at the annual small business awards gala in Seattle: 

  • Small Business Champion

Individuals may self-nominate. Nominees must be residents of the U.S. or its territories, will be subject to background checks, and must comply with federal civil rights laws. Individuals may not be nominated for more than one award category.

Deadline and Submission Guidelines

The SBA Seattle District recommends nominations are submitted by the Dec. 20, 2019 early bird deadline. The final deadline for nominations is 12 p.m. PT, Jan. 7, 2020.

All nomination packages must be hand delivered or mailed to the SBA Seattle District Office at 2401 Fourth Avenue, Suite 450, Seattle, WA 98121. 

Email submissions of SBA Awards forms will not be accepted as they contain personally identifiable information (PII). 

In the attachments below, you'll find all the forms you need to submit your nomination(s) as well as the 2020 Seattle District Nomination Guide   - this serves as a local version of the National Small Business Week Awards Guidelines. It should answer all of the eligibility and how-to questions.

*To qualify for most SBA National Small Business Week Award categories, a business needs to have been in business for at least three years; received some type of SBA or SBA resource partner assistance – such as SCORE counseling or an SBA Guaranteed Loan; and achieved consistent growth in annual revenue and staff over the past three years.
