Region IV | Leadership
Lola Kress is the Regional Communications Director for the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). She is responsible for the brand and marketing, social media, and communications strategies and initiatives across eight states in the Southeast (Region IV). Lola assists nine Public Information Officers in each SBA district office in their communications strategies; assuring the agency’s message is consistent and placed prominently in the public eye. Lola is also responsible for the research, speech writing and media engagement for the SBA’s Regional Administrator (Presidentially appointed). The Regional Communications Director’s office is located within the SBA’s Office of the Regional Administrator in Atlanta, GA. Over $5 billion in SBA-backed loans were approved to small businesses located across the Southeast Region which falls under the jurisdiction of the SBA Region IV Office.
Lola has held the position of Regional Communications Director since February of 2011. Previous to her current position, Lola served as the Public Affairs Specialist for the SBA in North Florida since 2000. She was responsible for all media and communications outreach for the agency within 43 counties of Florida. Lola began her federal career with the SBA in Denver, Colorado where she was responsible for management of the regional office. Lola has worked with the SBA since 1997 in communications roles.
Prior to her work with the SBA, Lola was the Director of Citizens Outreach for the Governor of Colorado, Governor Roy Romer, where she held a critical role as a liaison between the Governor and his Colorado constituency. Lola also worked for the Colorado State Senate in a public liaison position.
Lola has worked on many political campaigns for city, state and federal elections. She is very active in her community and with her son’s elementary school. Lola is the current Co-Chair for the Southeast Regional Network for the White House Initiative on Asian American Pacific Islanders as well as an active member of the Inter-agency - Intergovernmental Collaboration and Community Outreach Council in Atlanta and she is a recent graduate of the Atlanta Federal Executive Boards Leadership Government Class of 2014.
Lola is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder with a B.S. in International Affairs and German and she is a graduate of the University of Colorado’s Graduate School of Public Affairs with an M.A. in Public Administration.
