Accolade helps the employees of large organizations navigate the healthcare system to achieve better outcomes for the employees and lower costs for the employer. Accretive (Accolade’s founding investors) looked to invest in a company that was actively providing integrated health assistant services to the large employer market. Finding none, they decided to start Accolade by themselves in 2007.
The company provides employers with a team of “Accolade Health Assistants” to help their employees get the right health care in the right care setting the first time. Accolade has now worked with a large Philadelphia-based employer for well over a year in the first large-scale proof of its business model. Indications from Accolade’s first year of service suggest that the firm’s services are driving extremely high employee engagement and satisfaction rates. As a result, the health outcomes for participating employees have shown sustained improvement and the services are more than paying for themselves in reduced health care costs. Employees report delight with what is seen as a wholly new benefit.
The company was recently named one of the Philadelphia area’s “Top Workplaces” for 2011 by the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News. The company serves over 100,000 people.
