Company Name:
Fire Sprinkler, LLC
Nashville, Tennessee

Pat Stella and Wayne Dorr founded Fire Sprinkler of Nashville in 1995 with a combined 50 years experience in fire protection and construction between them, but not much working capital. Stella and Dorr turned to one of SBA’s Certified Lenders for an SBA-guaranteed loan of $100,000 to start the company.

Stella also decided to take advantage of one of SBA’s resource partners, SCORE. He was assigned a SCORE counselor, Bill Fowler, former Senior V.P. of SkyTel, and also former CEO of Altec, now Altec-Lansing. “SCORE in general, and Bill Fowler in particular, is such an asset to any company, without him we would not be as successful as we have been,” says Stella. “In fact, our long relationship with the SBA and SCORE, since the very start of our company, has been very productive and really invaluable for our continuing progress”, he adds.

Fire Sprinkler is now beginning its fifteenth year in business, and has grown over 1000 percent since 1995. The company started with four employees and two family members, and in 2010 employs approximately 100 people. The company has expanded from one office to 6 including locations in Nashville, Clarksville, Tullahoma, Cookeville, Bowling Green-KY, and Dickson; at least two more are in the planning stages, according to Stella.

As a full service commercial and industrial fire protection contractor, Stella’s firm prides itself on state of the art customer service. This includes codes-approved fire protection system design and installation, updates of existing systems, and state-required annual inspections. “We really are full service, and remain dedicated to providing the customer with a hassle-free experience in dealing with a very important—sometimes life-saving—part of their business,” says Stella.
