Event description

Are you a small business owner or entrepreneur interested in learning about trademarks and how to apply for a federal registration? If so, this event is a must-attend. Join Jason Lott from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a discussion about what all entrepreneurs, small businesses, and start-ups should know about trademarks.

P lease note: Eventbrite is limiting our events to 25 registrants. If you get a message that the event is full, please email Nicki Massie at nicholson.massie@sba.gov or Gary Alexander at gary.alexander@sba.gov and we'll add you to the registration list AND/OR add your information to the waitlist and we will release a ticket to you. We will email the Outlook invitation to everyone on the waitlist, regardless of whether you accept the ticket, so you will have the opportunity to participate in the event. If you need to register after 3p CT on 5/8/24 please email Gary or Nicki and we'll forward you the Outlook invitation.

Topics that will be discussed during the event are:

- how trademarks, copyrights, patents, domain names, and business name registrations all differ.

- the benefits of federal trademark registration.

- why it is important for any new business to select a trademark that will be both federally registrable and legally protectable, highlighting factors critical when choosing a mark.

- the importance of doing a complete search and whether an attorney should be used.

- information on what the USPTO does in the federal registration process.

- how to get free and reduced-price legal help when applying for registration.
