Did you know that April 23-29, 2017, is National Volunteer Week? This week is dedicated to promote and honor those who volunteer in our communities, as well as to encourage volunteerism across the nation.
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is excited to celebrate National Volunteer Week by recognizing all of the SCORE volunteer mentors who help entrepreneurs like you to succeed. These individuals selflessly give their time and share their experiences to create the next generation of small business owners who help grow the American economy.
SCORE is the nation’s largest network of volunteer expert business mentors. With more than 10, 000 volunteers and over 300 chapters nationwide, SCORE provides free and confidential business counseling and workshops to current and aspiring small business owners. These volunteers work with individuals on starting a business, solving business problems and growing a business. Their generosity helps to create small businesses that truly ignite the nation’s economy, create jobs and build wealth.
SCORE volunteer mentors specialize in various industries including Restaurants and Hospitality, Government Contracting, Entertainment, Web-Based Services, Construction, Farming and Agriculture. They are trained to help people in business or those looking to start a business understand all the elements of business ownership, including taxes, human resources, and marketing.
Volunteering doesn’t just have an impact on the people being helped. A study by the Corporation for National and Community Service found that the act of volunteering also benefits the volunteers themselves.
