Matt Coleman was appointed Atlantic Regional Administrator in February 2025. He oversees the SBA’s operations throughout New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Mr. Coleman rejoins SBA after serving as senior vice president at Mercury Public Affairs working with small business, non-profit, and corporate clients. He has over 20 years of experience in public affairs, strategic and crisis communications, and government relations. 

In his prior federal service, Mr. Coleman played a key role as the national spokesperson for the Paycheck Protection Program, COVID Economic Injury Disaster Loans and other small business economic recovery initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic. His leadership helped shape messaging for over $1.6 trillion in aid to small business owners and entrepreneurs. Throughout his career, he has also been a trusted media expert, quoted in such outlets as The New York Times, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal, and CNBC.

Before his tenure at the SBA, Mr. Coleman held leadership roles in government communications, including senior policy advisor and director of public affairs for the Town of Hempstead and senior political advisory roles in New York state and national campaigns.
