What began in 2008 as a small brewery in an airplane hangar has expanded into multiple offerings and venues, including the Aviator Brewery & Taproom, the Hangar Bar, the SmokeHouse, the Pizzeria & BeerShop, and the Morning Hangar breakfast spot -- all located in Fuquay-Varina.

Aviator Brewing distributes its beverages across North Carolina and beyond, supporting restaurants, grocery stores, and bars with a wide lineup of craft beers and specialty beverages. The company reaches tens of thousands of customers each week through onsite dining, events, off-premise sales, and regional distribution—making Aviator Brewing one of the Triangle’s standout food, beverage, and entertainment destinations. The company has grown to over 150 employees in its various operating entities.

Aviator has benefited from SBA 504 loans for fixed-asset expansion, COVID-era relief loans, and SBA STEP funding for international trade.

In addition, Aviator has been an NC SBTDC client for several years, using their consultation services for financial performance and analysis, strategic marketing, and international expansion – including NC State University student engagement projects.

The SBA North Carolina District Office is proud to honor Mark Doble and Buddy Everhart, Jr. of Aviator Brewing Company as its 2026 Small Business Persons of the Year. Ginny Vaca of the SBTDC nominated Mark and Buddy for the award.
