Geneco Technologies LLC was started from the ground up by owners Amye Butler and Brad Butler, inspired by Amye’s father, Gene Amerine.   They rely on the outstanding project managers and hardworking craftsmen working in tandem to achieve the work ethics of: Quality Work, Timeliness of job completion and Customer satisfaction.  Geneco Technologies was founded in October 2010 in a small building with only two employees.  Amye Butler was one of only 13 women in Texas who earned a HVAC License.  Geneco not only provides heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) services with electrical installation and installs facility automation and control unites to include building retro-commissioning. 



In 2012, the company was awarded the Federal Energy and Water Management by Dyess Air Force Base  for exceptional  accomplishments in energy, water, and fleet management in the Federal Sector for work completed at Dyess Air Force Base. In 2014, Amye Butler, Geneco Technologies, LLC., was selected as the Lubbock-West Texas District Small Business Person of the Year for the Abilene Area. 

What challenge did you have?  The Challenge was to compete in a male dominated field of business   development a locally woman owned contracting business that could compete within the male dominate construction contractors and expand in the construction market.  



Amye pursued the SBA classification of 8(a) to assist in overcoming discrimination for being a woman in a normally considered male business field.  This allowed her company to compete and win bids at the Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, TX.   

Ms. Butler field of job opportunities was open wide once her company received the 8(a) classification.  Geneco Technologies LLC was able to expand its base of operation growing her company from 30 employees to 85 employees winning jobs with the USDA and Dyess Air Force Base.  



By using the SBA’s 504 loan program Geneco Technologies was able to construct a modern update facility and move out of the Tye Incubator.  The facility has storage space and construction areas that meet the job requirements of the company. 



Geneco Technologies LLC farther used the 7(a) loan programs to purchase needed equipment and expand its operation to prepare for larger contracts with the government and expand it market into new areas that previously was not consider.  For example: a contract with the USDA to build seven miles of 4 strand barbwire fence with corners and gates for the USDA.   

Geneco Technologies LLC has been able to win several awards from Dyess Air Force Base and the USDA that has allowed them to expand both the number of employees and the range of equipment to handle more than just heating and air conditioning. The SBDC has helped with marketing, developing a Capability Statement, and graphic arts in our marketing materials. Geneco Technologies LLC has established that they are a viable company thanks to the assistance of Small Business Development Center. With the company contracting with the federal government agencies and state government agencies has opened new contracting channels and increased revenue.
