Event description

A successful Nonprofit Organization requires strong and effective leadership from the Board of Directors. However, all it takes is a toxic, underperforming Board Member to derail all of the efforts put forth by the rest of the Board.

If a Board Member is not engaged or contributing to the greater good of the organization, it may be time to gently nudge the board member to step down, or in an extreme case, termination. Yes, volunteers can be terminated.

Even if you have not experienced the need to fire a Board Member, understanding the process and an alternative approach will benefit you and your Board in the future if a situation should arise.

This session will outline when it is appropriate to fire a Board Member, the process to follow when terminating a Board Member, and alternative ways to avoid the dreaded task of stating "You're Fired."
