Register your business

Disasters need a quick response. Your small business can contract with the federal government to help.

The government searches the Disaster Response Registry to find companies that can help. This is part of the System for Award Management (SAM). Contractors on this registry can help clean up debris, deliver supplies and services, or rebuild.

To be added:

  1. Register your business with SAM.
  2. During registration, indicate you want to join the Disaster Response Registry.
  3. Fill out the Disaster Response Information page in the Assertions module.

SAM registration takes about two or three days. Once active, you'll be added to the registry.

If your business is local to a major disaster or emergency declaration, you may get preference when bidding.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requirements

FEMA requires potential vendors to fill out the Industry Liaison Program (ILP) Vendor Profile form. Submit it by email to fema-industry@fema.dhs.gov.

Find contracting opportunities

Federal agencies will post solicitations for disaster-related contracts on SAM. To find them:

  • Use your North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code
  • Search keywords such as “hurricane” or “disaster”

You can also search for state and local opportunities. FEMA has state contact information listed on its site.
