Event description
If you’ve ever wanted to create a simple, professional-looking website without needing to learn code or complicated tools, this workshop is for you. Whether you're setting up a personal page, a team site for a club or class, or a basic starter site for your small business, Google Sites offers an easy, no-cost way to get started (the only cost is registering your domain name through a domain name provider and the yearly renewal, typically under $30 per year). This session is designed for absolute beginners, so no prior web experience is required.
In this workshop, we’ll walk step-by-step through the basics, how to create a site, add pages, insert text and images, and the basics of good SEO. You’ll learn how to navigate the interface, customize your layout, and organize your content in a way that’s both clear and visually appealing. By the end of the session, you’ll have the skills and confidence to build and manage a simple Google Site of your own.
Presenter Heather Turner is a Granite Region Certified SCORE mentor. She spent twenty years cooking professionally and in 2003 started her own business (with the assistance of a SCORE mentor). She currently teaches social media and marketing for small businesses and mentors and co-mentors in the chapter for marketing and social media for startup businesses and for existing businesses who need some help and guidance in the digital age. She also specializes in working with the hospitality industry for operations, both starting a food business as well as in business.
