Event description

Attend this information session to learn about how the Governor-Designated Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZones) in Kansas could provide preferential access to federal contracts for your small business!

Presentations by:

  • U.S. Small Business Administration
  • Kansas Department of Commerce

About HUBZones:

The HUBZone Program was established in 1999 to fuel the revitalization of distressed communities by ensuring that federal contracts flow to small business who locate and hire employees from these communities.

In 2025, the SBA authorized the addition of 10 new HUBZone Governor-Designated Covered Areas in Kansas, expanding access and eligibility to SBA's HUBZone Program to the small businesses in these areas.

This program is unique because it is not based on any socioeconomic characteristics of the owner but is entirely based on the actions of the owner to maintain the firm’s principal office in a HUBZone and at 35% of their employees reside in HUBZone areas.
