Thinking of starting a business? Not sure where to begin?
Starting a business can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re not sure what steps to take first. Should you register your name? Get a license? Write a business plan? What if you miss something and end up in trouble with the IRS?
In this webinar, Maine SBDC Business Advisor Vien Dobui will walk you through a comprehensive Startup Checklist that covers key legal, financial, and logistical steps to launching a business the right way.
We’ll focus on:
- Registering your business and choosing a legal structure
- Understanding what licenses, permits, and insurance you may need
- Navigating taxes and financial basics
- Building a foundation with tools like market research and a business plan
We’ll leave plenty of time for Q&A, and you’ll walk away with the confidence to take the next steps toward becoming a legitimate business owner.
This is Part 1 of our three-part Startup Series, designed to guide aspiring entrepreneurs through the key fundamentals of starting a business. Upcoming sessions will cover:
- Business Planning Tools
- Financial Forecasting
Funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. SBA. Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made if requested at least two weeks in advance. Contact mainesbdc@maine.edu
