Day 1

Objectives:

  • To get familiar with what QuickBooks (QBO) as to offer
  • Learn or review set up options in system
  • Explore and get familiar with navigating the program 

 

Agenda:

  • Introduction to myself and QuickBooks On-line (QBO)
  • Explain different Tiers for QBO
  • Introduction to the Test Company – How to get to it
  • Converting QuickBooks Desktop to On-line version
  • Review basic set up features and best practice options developing your lists
  • Customer Lists
  • Vendor Lists
  • Items Lists
  • Introduction to Chart of accounts
  • Defining types of accounts
  • Defining the what and not the who
  • Think about your current accounting process, and answer what features in QBO will you really need, or not need
  • Open Test Company and explore the “Gear” icon and set up features you think you will need to support your current accounting process
  • Open the Chart of Accounts, add/inactivate/delete or edit accounts

 

Day 2

Objectives:

  • Review Setup features
  • Learn how to enter data into QBO
  • Grasp terminology and basic knowledge of how QBO works

 

Agenda:

  • Review setup features in the “Gear” icon
  • Review the Chart of accounts
  • Add
  • Inactivate/Delete
  • Edit
  • Accounts Payable
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Basic Data Entry
  • Bank Feeds
  • Reconciliations
  • In Test Company – Follow instructions in the booklet for sample transaction entry
  • Explore the bank feed option
  • Create transactions in the test company of your own

 

Day 3

Objectives:

  • To understand what happens to the data you input
  • How to run reports and do simple customizations to already created reports
  • How to review your reports and quickly find data entry errors or other problems

 

Agenda:

  • Transaction entry (via bank feed or manual)
  • Reconciliations
  • Introduce Reporting
  • Different types of reports and where to find them
  • How to customize each report to meet your business needs
  • Tips and tricks on how to read and recognize errors
  • How to use the reports to plan for the future of your business
