David Brown
Director of Policy
David Brown serves as the Director of Policy in SBA's Office of the Administrator.
Prior to joining the SBA, he worked as economic policy advisor to U.S. Senator Chris Coons of Delaware, a member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. In this role, David helped craft small business relief legislation during the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as legislation to expand the U.S. manufacturing sector and strengthen retirement security for working Americans. Before working in the Senate, David was deputy director of the Economic Program at the Washington, D.C. think tank Third Way. Previously, David taught middle and high school social studies in both Houston, Texas and Nyeri, Kenya.
Mr. Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Rice University and a master’s degree in international relations and international economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
