WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Administrator Linda McMahon, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, will deliver the keynote address at the first-ever Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Knowledge Summit Thursday, May 11 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

The MSME Knowledge Summit is organized by the International Council of Small Businesses, a nonprofit organization promoting the growth and development of small businesses worldwide. The event will host a gathering of policy shapers and global private sector partners who will discuss the important role micro, small and medium-sized enterprises play as catalysts, creators and supporters in achieving the growth of sustainable businesses worldwide.  The summit will also focus on work toward achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, aimed at ending poverty and promoting prosperity through global entrepreneurship.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to discuss the SBA’s role in helping small businesses launch and thrive,” McMahon said. “Exporting is an essential component of small business growth, and the SBA is here to help entrepreneurs discover new exporting opportunities, expand into new markets and compete in the global economy.”

MSME Knowledge Summit attendees will also hear from country ministers and dignitaries from Argentina, Arab Republic of Egypt, and Kuwait. Private sector representatives include Dr. Patrice Harris, Chair of the American Medical Association Board of Trustees and Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation General Counsel Michael Falk. Other speakers include college presidents from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts and Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
