Starting & Successfully Operating a Small Business Part 2 of 2 - Wayne County

SCORE in partnership with the Wayne County Economic Development Department is offering a FREE 2 day workshop series. These workshops are part of the requirements for the Wayne County 2026 Pitch Contest that will be held on April 21, 2026. The contest is open only to Wayne County residents, but the workshops are open to all.

In these workshops you will learn all the key areas in running and operating a small business.

Here is what will be covered in each session:

Part 1 of 2: Saturday, February 21st - 10:00am - 2:00pm: Business Model Canvas (create the foundation for your Business Plan); Sales - learn sales strategies for business success and Marketing - apply techniques to market your business

Part 2 of 2 Saturday, February 28th - 10:00am - 2:00pm: Financials - know your numbers and what you need to keep track of; and BAIL - Create your team for success - Banking, Accounting, Insurance and Legal

There will also be a Pitch Practice Session on Saturday, April 18th - 10:00am - 12:00pm for those Wayne County residents that will be entering the 2026 Pitch Contest. Practice, refine and receive expert feedback from SCORE mentors as you prepare your pitch for the Wayne County Pitch Contest. Pitch Contest participants need to attend either Part 1 Session on February 21st or Part 2 Session on February 28th...you can certainly attend BOTH!
