Event description
Presented by Luis Vargas | In Partnership with Bank of America
Strong credit is one of the most valuable financial tools available to individuals and entrepreneurs. It can influence the ability to secure loans, obtain favorable interest rates, and build long term financial stability. In collaboration with Bank of America, the Florida SBDC at FGCU presents an educational session focused on understanding how credit works and how healthy credit habits can support both personal and business goals.
The program examines the core factors that shape a credit profile, including payment history, credit utilization, length of credit history, and the impact of opening new accounts. Participants learn practical strategies for maintaining strong credit, such as paying bills consistently on time, keeping credit card balances well below their limits, and monitoring credit reports for errors that can affect a credit score.
The session also addresses options for individuals who are beginning to build credit or rebuilding after financial setbacks. Topics include tools such as secured credit cards, credit builder loans, and becoming an authorized user on an established account. By understanding these fundamentals, participants gain a clearer picture of how responsible credit management can strengthen financial opportunities over time.
