Event description

Day 1 focuses on helping you get comfortable with what QuickBooks Online (QBO) can do for your business. You will learn or review setup options and spend time navigating the system so you know where everything is. We’ll start with an introduction to the instructor and to QBO, including an overview of the different subscription levels and how to access the test company.

From there, we’ll cover how to convert from QuickBooks Desktop to the online version and go through basic setup features and best practices. This includes building and organizing your customer, vendor, and item lists, as well as an introduction to the chart of accounts. You’ll learn how to define account types, focus on what each account is for, and think through your current accounting process to decide which features you actually need. You will also explore the “Gear” icon settings and work inside the test company to add, edit, or remove accounts in the chart of accounts.

Day 2 is about putting things into practice. You will review the setup features again and build a better understanding of how to enter data into QBO. The goal is to get comfortable with the terminology and how the system works day to day.

We will go over the chart of accounts in more detail, including how to add, edit, or inactivate accounts, along with a review of accounts payable and accounts receivable. You’ll learn the basics of data entry, how to use bank feeds, and how to complete reconciliations. Using the test company, you will follow guided examples to enter sample transactions, explore the bank feed feature, and create your own transactions for practice.

Day 3 focuses on understanding what happens after you enter your data. You will learn how transactions flow through the system and how to use that information to run reports and review your business performance.

We will cover transaction entry, both manual and through bank feeds, along with reconciliations. Then we’ll introduce reporting, including the different types of reports available and where to find them. You’ll learn how to customize reports to fit your needs, how to read them, and how to quickly spot errors or issues in your data. The session will also show you how to use reports to make better decisions and plan for the future of your business.
