Event description
Join the Chapin Chamber of Commerce, Lexington County Economic Development, and the SC Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) for an informative session on international trade. This seminar is for small business owners who import or export and who want to know what resources are available to support them.
The SC SBDC speaker, Beth Smith, has 35+ years experience working internationally in >50 countries. As former Director, Center for Market Development at Motorola Inc. and at Digital Equipment Corporation, Beth has experience in global marketing, sales and distribution. She will explain the resources available to business owners through the SC SBDC (including SBA and EXIM Bank financing programs) and the members of the state's export consortium.
The South Carolina Department of Commerce speaker, Carla Edwards, is the Program Manager for International Trade. She is a native of Portugal and has studied and worked throughout Europe. Carla will explain the SBA's STEP grant program as well as the SC DOC SCOPE grant program, the 2026-2027 trade missions and tradeshows that they coordinate.
