Event description

The Small Business Administration (SBA) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are hosting a Teams webinar to highlight how HUBZone and Section 3 Certifications can drive growth for your business.

Section 3 is a provision of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968. The purpose of Section 3 is to ensure that employment and other economic opportunities generated by certain HUD financial assistance shall, to the greatest extent feasible, and consistent with existing Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, be directed to low- and very low-income persons, particularly those who are recipients of government assistance for housing, and to business concerns which provide economic opportunities to low-and very low-income persons.

There is significant overlap between HUD Section 3 and SBA’s Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) program. Both programs target economically distressed areas, and the SBA relies heavily on HUD's geographic data to establish its HUBZone map.

If you’re a small business owner that would like to learn more about SBA’s HUBZone Certification Program and HUD’s Section 3 Certification Program and how your company can leverage both programs for economic growth, then please plan to join us for a free virtual training program on July 9, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.

SBA and HUD staff will be on hand to teach you how to properly apply for the certifications and answer your questions.
