2026 Exporter of the Year: Mojotone

Mojotone is a guitar and amplifier electronics supplier, custom and vintage reproduction speaker cabinet builder, and world-class guitar pickup manufacturer serving customers across the globe from its Burgaw NC location. Michael McWhorter started the business in 2000 as a mail-order catalog business. He later expanded offerings to include contract manufacturing, warehousing and fulfillment services.

Mojotone has been an SBTDC client in Wilmington NC for several years. The company has benefited from other SBA programs including loans and SBA STEP funding to boost its international trade revenues.

Today, export sales account for about 20 percent of total revenues and are generated from over 50 countries including Germany, Indonesia, the UK, Japan, and Australia.

The SBA North Carolina District Office is proud to honor Mojotone as its 2026 Exporter of the Year. The company was nominated by Quingyuan Zhang of the SBTDC.
