From Family Roots to Industry Leader - A Legacy in Manufacturing
The U.S. Small Business Administration named Macy Industries, Inc. and Approved Sheet Metal, LLC as the New Hampshire 2026 Jeffrey Butland Family-Owned Business of the Year, recognizing the company’s outstanding leadership, family entrepreneurship, innovation, and commitment to strengthening New Hampshire’s manufacturing community.
Since 2002, CEO Nick Mercier has spearheaded the growth of Macy Industries. He continues the legacy his parents started in their Manchester home in 1975. Over the past 50 years, the company grew from a small startup into a respected manufacturer serving a wide range of industries.
Today, Macy Industries is a leader in precision metal fabrication, operating more than 44,000 square feet of manufacturing space across facilities in Hooksett and Concord. Through both Macy Industries and Approved Sheet Metal the company serves more than 600 active customers, including global innovators such as Moderna, General Electric, Pfizer, SpaceX, Tesla, Medtronic, Raytheon, Teradyne, and Sig Sauer. The companies deliver advanced custom metal fabrication solutions supporting aerospace, medical, defense, and manufacturing markets nationwide.
With support from the SBA over the years, including SBA 504 loans and Paycheck Protection Program loans, the Mercier family expanded their operations, invested in equipment and grew their workforce. Nick Mercier and his wife Amy, along with their three sons, are deeply involved in the community, embracing the “Yankee way” of hard work, ingenuity, and community commitment, while building a lasting legacy of family entrepreneurship.
In addition to business success, Mercier is recognized for its dedication to NH’s manufacturing community. He is a strong advocate for workforce education and technical skills training, through both Macy Industries and Approved Sheet Metal, the family generously supports local organizations through financial contributions and in-kind services.
