For nearly 80 years, Marion Manufacturing Company Inc., has been a cornerstone of Connecticut’s manufacturing sector. Founded in 1946 and headquartered in Cheshire, CT, the precision metal stamping and forming company produces components for critical industries including medical devices, aerospace, automotive, telecommunications, electronics, and emerging technologies. As customer demand evolved and competition increased, Marion Manufacturing Company faced the challenge of modernizing its operations, expanding production capabilities, and developing the next generation of skilled manufacturing talent while maintaining the quality and reliability that had defined the company for decades.

Under the leadership of Douglas Johnson, President, Marion Manufacturing Company has leveraged multiple SBA programs to support strategic growth and long-term investments. The company utilized an SBA 7(a) loan in 2015 and an SBA 504 loan in 2020 to purchase new manufacturing presses, invest in advanced quality inspection equipment, and acquire its current facility. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Marion Manufacturing also received two Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans, helping the company retain employees and maintain business continuity during a period of unprecedented economic uncertainty. These SBA resources enabled the company to modernize operations, expand capabilities, and strengthen its position in the highly competitive precision manufacturing industry.

Today, Marion Manufacturing Company continues to produce highly specialized components used in products ranging from medical monitoring devices and emergency medical equipment to advanced communications and automotive systems. The company has built a workforce that combines experienced manufacturing professionals with a younger generation of skilled employees, supported through internships, training programs, and partnerships with educational institutions. Marion Manufacturing’s commitment to innovation, workforce development, and community engagement has fueled continued growth while helping to strengthen Connecticut’s manufacturing economy. In recognition of these accomplishments, the U.S. Small Business Administration named Marion Manufacturing Company the Connecticut District Office’s 2026 Manufacturer of the Year during National Small Business Week.
