Farm310, a thriving small business in Allenstown is the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2026 New Hampshire and New England Home-Based Business of the Year. This well-deserved recognition celebrates its excellence across the six states of New England.

After years of serving in the U.S. Army, Gregory Wortman was searching for a new mission that felt as purposeful as wearing the uniform. He found that mission on a small plot of land that would become Farm310, a sustainable farm producing honey, fresh vegetables and homemade goods for the local community. When Wortman transitioned out of the Army, he carried with him the discipline, planning and problem-solving skills that defined his military service. Instead of putting those skills behind him, he redirected them into agriculture, building Farm310 from the ground up with the same focus and commitment he once used in the military.

Through support from the SBA and resource partners, Wortman leveraged training and business counseling opportunities to expand operations, improve production efficiency and strengthen his online presence.

Nominator Holly Aker, interim director of the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) of New England, highlighted that Wortman used the center’s free business plan reviews and market analysis to refine his direct-to-consumer model. Additionally, the SBA’s Boots to Business program equipped him with the entrepreneurship training needed to successfully launch his business.

Farm310 is more than a farm stand — it is a veteran-led hub for community resilience and healthy living, reflecting Wortman’s vision to help families thrive with fresh, nutritious and locally grown food via farmers markets and direct-to-consumer sales. Wortman partners with veteran groups to promote agricultural education and job training, planting seeds of purpose and opportunity across southern New Hampshire.

“Gregory Wortman, a U.S. Army veteran, exemplifies how the discipline of military service translates into entrepreneurship and building a strong, sustainable home-based business. He accomplished this through unwavering determination and creativity,” said Amy Bassett, SBA New Hampshire district director.

Wortman and the other SBA award winners from New Hampshire will be honored at the SBA’s 2026 Small Business Week celebration. The event will take place Thursday, May 7, at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, 2 Institute Drive in Concord, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
