Andrea Roebker is the regional communications director for Region V, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin, of the U.S. Small Business Administration. In this role, she leads public affairs for the six-state region, executing internal and external communication, marketing and alliances, and advocates for America’s small businesses. She further supports the regional administrator and the federal agency’s office of communications and public liaison.
Prior to joining the SBA, Roebker served as director, public relations for Kaplan Higher Education, managing the operation of and processes for the business unit’s and campuses’ public relations initiatives, including social media efforts, issues management, media relations, internal communication, etc.
With approximately 20 years of experience, she began her career working on behalf of California’s anti-tobacco campaign and has executed media outreach, organizational communication, marketing and community engagement initiatives in a variety of industries. The core of her experience has been implementing strategic, integrated efforts to lift organizations by leveraging visibility, increasing brand awareness and positioning them with key audiences to support goals.
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Roebker graduated from Ohio University with a B.S. in journalism and a certificate in political communication, and received her M.B.A. from Kaplan University. She has a passion for travel, is a member of the Metropolitan Club of Chicago, and supports various charitable organizations, including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Spark Ventures.
